Out of Town and a Giveaway

Hey, guys. I’m still out of town, so come back this afternoon and I’ll have announced the winner of Tuesday’s Giveaway.

Today’s giveaway is a copy of Suite Scarlett, by Maureen Johnson. If all has gone as planned, I will have spent yesterday afternoon writing in a cafe with Madame Johnson, so this is very fitting.

The thing I really love about Maureen’s books is that they remind me so much of the books I read when I was a kid. You’ve got those quirky fabulous New York families. It’s like The Hundredth Thing About Caroline all over again. But older, and hipper. And awesome. I know Girl at Sea was a RITA finalist last year, but I don’t think her books have half the recognition in the romance community that they should. People bemoan where to find good contemporary rom coms? Like Jennifer Crusie? Try Maureen Johnson.

I shall be back later with more updates and other fun stuff. Meanwhile, leave a comment here to enter!

    Maureen Johnson! Yay!!

  5. Anna says:

We’ve had copies of this book at work, sitting there taunting me with their readableness, but sadly they are to be shipped out to contest winners who are not me. I’d love to have one of my own! I read Maureen Johnson’s story in LET IT SNOW and loved it.

  6. Susan Adrian says:

YES, please! I absolutely want this one. I’m reading THE BERMUDEZ TRIANGLE right now.

  7. Tiff says:

I’m just commenting to let you all know that Maureen Johnson is absolutely my favorite YA author right now (well, aside from Diana, but she’s not YA…yet =P). Suite Scarlett is just wonderful, zany but emotional, and so, so sweet. And it’s part of a series, so if you get into it, there’s more to come! =)

That said, I’ve got all of MJ’s books, so please don’t enter me into the giveaway, Diana. Thanks!

Also, you’re writing in a cafe with Maureen? My two favorite authors writing together?

  8. Vicki says:

Love the cover! Hope your writing goes well. 🙂

  9. Tiff says:

I meant to say…oh, to be a coffee cup on that table!

  11. ILuvLA says:

I wonder if the publisher went looking for a cover model who resembled Scarlett Johansson at first glance?

  12. penmage says:

I love Maureen, and I’ve been wanting to read this one!

  13. Her blog is one of my favorites. 🙂

  14. Lell says:

ILuvLA – I had to go look again to see the resemblance to Scarlett Johansson, but I definitely see it now. If Reese Witherspoon and Scarlett Johansson had a love-clone with the former’s eyes and the latter’s aura of whimsy, it might be that model.

And meep, I just clicked the picture of the security word and iTunes opened up with the audio file and made me jump.

    Hope the writing went well!

  15. Jess T. says:

I love this author! Her books are so good, and this one looks just as amazing as the others!

  16. Liza says:

I would love to give Maureen’s book a try. She is a new to me author and I love finding new authors.

  17. Alyssa says:

    Love the cover!

  18. Alexa says:

I’ve never read her but I’d love to try her, it sounds a fun read.

  19. Elizabeth Aube says:

I’ve read a few of her books, and I have to admit that they’re fun reads. Who can say no to some fun YA books? I’m a little upset that I read this entry late, because it would have been fun to enter. Either way, I’m sure I’ll be picking this up soon.

  20. Phyllis Towzey says:

I’ve never read her books — I’ll try them — I love romantic comedy.

  21. Jen says:

Maureen rocks! I’ve been wanting to read this book for awhile.

  22. Annie says:

I’ve heard good things about her, I don’t know why I haven’t read anything yet—it looks good!
