Weekend Diversions

In yoga class last night, we worked on releasing our shoulders, which was an absolute revelation for me. I spend so long every day hunched over my computer screen. Lately, it’s felt as if I — and not Astrid — have been the one shooting a bow all day long.

I am not a “method writer” like Robin Brande, but I do find that when I’m doing intense drafting, as I am now, it’s difficult to sstay out of the character’s mindset. Astrid’s life is very, very hard — much harder than the girl sitting at the computer with her adorable puppy curled up next to her on the couch. When my husband comes home in the evening, he sees a girl in pajamas who hasn’t had to battle commuters or rain all day. But inside my head, I’ve been battling unicorns.

So, what are everyone’s plans for the weekend? I’m writingwritingwriting, doing a bit of gardening (I really have to figure out what’s going on with my tomato plants), picking up a new TempDog (W00T! or, um, is that W00F?), going to a WRW board meeting, and then, if I can figure out the logistics, taking Rio and TempDog2 to a charity dog walk on Sunday. I’m not sure if I can swing it, though, since Sailor Boy is leaving town and I don’t know if I can walk two dogs at once (especially since have no idea what TempDog2’s leash manners will be). We shall see.

What are you all doing?
