Morning Glory Release Day!

Okay, release day plus one. What can I say, I’m a little distracted these days.

Anyway, yesterday marks the release of my seventh novel, MORNING GLORY, the story of a plucky television news producer and the dueling co-anchors she must wrangle if she wants her show to survive.

This book was so much fun to write. I loved doing a novelization, of figuring out how to take someone else’s character and words and give it my own special spin.I hope y’all like reading the result.

Here’s the Booklist review:

The best thing you can say about a novelization—a book written from a movie script—is that it doesn’t read like a novelization. That’s definitely true about this novel, an entertaining and frequently affecting story about a young television producer, Becky Fuller, who, after being unexpectedly fired from her job on a local morning show, stumbles into a new position on a network program whose hosts are locked in near mortal combat. As she tries to make peace between the dueling anchors, she finds a kindred spirit and possibly a romantic partner in one of her fellow producers. The book is scheduled to come out at the same time as the movie (which stars, among others, Rachel McAdams as Becky and Harrison Ford and Diane Keaton as the dueling anchors), but here’s the thing: it’s is so snappily written that it can stand on its own two feet. The characters are richly drawn, the dialogue is smart and memorable, and the story is a pleasing mixture of comedy and pathos. Readers often overlook books based on movie scripts, but here’s one that merits seeking out.

Fans of the Secret Society Girl series will probably want to check this out — it’s got a similar, snarky tone.

In celebration of the release of this, my seventh book, I’m giving away a copy. Leave a comment here to enter! (Yes, internationally open.)
