Sorry this post is a tad late today. We had a bit of a family emergency when Rio escaped from the backyard and had a close call with a car. Ugh, the guilt.
Anyway, one question I got yesterday was how many books there is going to be in the “series” and what other works of classic literature am I thinking of adapting.
Love the enthusiasm, guys. Really made my day.
And the answer is, this is probably it. After all, when I wrote For Darkness, I was pretty dead set on that being that. And even back then, people asked me if I was doing Pride & Prejudice next. But what happened is that when I sat down to figure out what my next book was going to be, I came across old notes on a futuristic, space-set (that’s what the notes were — but not what the book I wrote turned out being), gender-reversed Pimpernel, and I was like, huh, you know what might kind of work? A Pimpernel set in the For Darkness world, and then I was off and running, and one thing led to another and here we are.
So anyway, I think the lesson learned there is “never say never” because I spent a year going “oh, no, FDSTS is totally a stand alone” and then I went and wrote a companion. So once again, I say “never say never” with an enormous caveat that I do NOT currently have any plans for any more and am in fact working on all kinds of other stuff which is not post apocalyptic or future based or interpretations of any classics.
Which I need to get back to work on now, so that I can hopefully share more details on them with you soon.
